Cooks (temp to hire)

Hourly Rate: $12/hr
Location: San Luis Obispo

Description

A local non-profit organization is in need of a PT or FT cook to perform a wide variety of simple cooking tasks.

7 day a week facility.  Days of work can vary for a total of 5 days/wk. 4:30am-12:30pm or 11:30am-8:00pm

Other duties include:

  • Prepare all food according to guidelines
  • Season, grill, bake, steam, boil, & fry food to prepare a wide range of dishes
  • Measure and weigh portions and ingredients as required
  • Cook cereal, make beverages, toast, salads and more
  • Open/prepare canned vegetables and fruits
  • Assist Chef Manager when preparing dishes for meals
  • Place cooked food in serving dishes
  • Wash and clean kitchen equipment
  • Report any stock shortages to the Contract Manager
  • Label time and date on all leftovers, storing them accordingly to guidelines

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in food service/grill preferred
  • Ability to train and work with disabled persons
  • Knowledge of food sanitation requirements and health code standards
  • Must know proper food handling procedures and pass a food handler test
  • Must be able to stand during entire shift and lift 30lbs (50/lbs with a partner)
  • Must have reliable transportation
